Sedimentary Rocks

We have already discovered how Igneous rocks are formed, but what about Sedimentary rocks?

For millions of years little pieces of our Earth have been broken and worn away by the wind and water. These little pieces flow downstream and settle. Layer after layer, those pieces form on top of each other. Once the pressure builds up, it slowly moulds into a rock.

Different Sedimentary rocks are commonly known as:

Sandstone (composed out of tiny rock grains)

Limestone (contains amounts of silica, clay, sand and silt.)

Shale (mudstone, contains clay minerals or muds.)

Conglomerate (made up of large sediments like sand or pebbles)

Gypsum (made up of sulfate mineral)
